Cinema Femme

Chicago / 2025

From grassroots magazine to global nonprofit.

Founded in 2018, Cinema Femme evolved from a Chicago-based indie magazine into a global nonprofit rewriting the rules of who gets seen, supported, and celebrated in film. As the organization grew into its next chapter, it needed a brand that matched its influence—a credible, confident identity capable of rallying filmmakers, funders, and industry partners behind real systemic change.

We repositioned Cinema Femme as a global peer community reshaping the film industry for female, transgender, and nonbinary filmmakers—an inclusive, visionary space where emerging creators gain the visibility, mentorship, and career-advancing opportunities they’ve long been denied. The refreshed logo, inspired by film-strip grommets, signaled boldness and authority. From there, we built a modern visual system; a signature, SEO-optimized messaging platform; and a digital ecosystem that brought their purpose to life across every touchpoint.

Grounded in authentic filmmaker voices and rooted in the organization’s Chicago-to-global spirit, the new brand gave Cinema Femme clarity, credibility, and the foundation to scale its impact for years to come.
